The Tiger
The Tiger has been voted the worlds favorite animal, even over the family dog.
Despite it's popularity, their dwindling numbers are very alarming. There are
currently 6 subspecies of tigers with 3 others having already gone extinct.
Presently there are fewer than 6,000 Tigers in the wild.

Tigers live in the eastern and southern parts of Asia. They are solitary animals
capable of remarkable things. They can reach speeds of 40 miles per hour and
can horizontally leap over 30 feet. They are excellent swimmers and capable of
reaching distances of 4 miles.

Adult males can reach 13 feet in total length and weigh over 600 lbs. Cubs
weigh 2 lbs at birth and only half survive to reach 2 years of age. The
combination of loss of habitat and being hunted for their furs, has greatly
reduced their numbers in the wild.

The Tiger is an endangered animal and with the help of Save China's Tigers
they will hopefully survive. Please visit Save China's Tigers to see how they are
helping.
